Main Learning Outcomes: Developing fine motor skills, creativity and early literacy skills

Steps:

1. Grab the book Play With Clay by Jenny Pinkerton - or listen along on Youtube. Follow the steps first to make your moulding dough, and then play while you read. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lp6P-6zcPRA

2. Time to make the play d'oh! Mix together your flour, salt and oil in a big bowl

Add the boiling water a little at a time, mixing until you get a sticky dough. You may not need it all!

Leave your dough to cool

Knead your dough on a floured surface.

Split your dough into as many balls as you need for your different colours

Add a few drops of food colouring to each ball and knead until it’s a consistent colour.

It’s play time! Get creative and see what you can make. Now you can play with the dough while you read today’s story.

Tips:

Mix together your food colouring to make new colours. And if you want to keep your models, just bake in the oven at 250 degrees for an hour to harden.
